Even though the virus was known in the west before its spread, it has taken countries by surprise and unprepared with an alarming growth rate at a relatively short period, leaving governments to fight this contagious disease by all means.
Majority of countries and their respective governments fight this disease by implementing or advocating similar measures among which the most common are social distancing, stay-at-home initiatives, protective gears and country lockdowns.
Montenegro is one of the countries with a more rigorous approach and decisive plan to save its citizens and stop the disease from spreading. Even before the first diagnosed case, Montenegro shut down all commercial stores (except essential categories), closed its borders, implemented a curfew and many other strict measures. It appears that the authorities are doing a successful job so far with Montenegro being the last European country to diagnose the first coronavirus case and currently the country with the lowest death rate in the region.
